Correct finger placement is the foundation of fast and accurate typing. Learning where each finger should rest on the keyboard allows typists to type without looking at the keys.
The home row keys are the middle row of the keyboard where your fingers rest when you are not typing. These keys are:
A S D F for the left hand and J K L ; for the right hand.
Your index fingers should rest on the F and J keys. These keys usually have small bumps to help you find them without looking.
